My fitness journey has started back in 2018, as a normal gym goer. But, I had that motivation that I tried to attend gym everyday – 6 days a week from the day 1. The initial target was to learn some workout and have some muscle in my body, having really wrong imaginations on gym and workout- just like a typical beginner!
During the journey in the first year itself, I could achieve something, but definitely not expected result in physique. What I was able to achieve during the first year:
- Learned correct form of exercise
- Increase body mass
- Increased Stamina
- Increase in reps of pushup – This was one noticeable change for myself. Because, initially I could do hardly 8 pushups in a single set, but eventually the repetition has been increased to 30+ in a set.
- Increased quality of sleep

Even though these are some positive points about initial days, when I look back, I did a lots of mistakes which I realised later.
- Inconsistent goal: Changing the goal within 2 months was one of the great mistakes I ever made. I mixed up the cutting and bulking phases a lot, which I realised later.
- Over training; Because of over motivation, I ended up working out 6 days a week, 1.5 hours per session. And what was the outcome of it? Frequent sickness! Yes, over training lead me to the situation where I got sick in every quarter of the year.
- No Progressive overload: Even though I was lifting weights, there was a lack of progressive overload to the muscles. And because this, I observed no significant change in physique in long term such as 2 year.
- Lack of nutrition: Protein, protein, protein- this is the main word when we hear about fitness industry. But it’s not sufficient for our body to get in shape, the real key would be good diet plan and stick with it until your goal is achieved
Yeah, these are the key points that came to my mind when I look back, the initial journey at my Resistance training!
