Cortisol

Hormones play a vital role in controlling emotions in the human body, such as generating or regulating anger, sadness, or creating happiness, etc. However, for each emotion, there is a different hormone responsible.

Our topic is stress – cortisol is the hormone that regulates stress levels. A higher amount of cortisol release means we will experience higher levels of stress. This, in turn, leads to a reduced production of happy hormones, such as dopamine, resulting in a lack of concentration and happiness. Ultimately, this can leave you feeling exhausted!

How you can control the stress by controlling cortisol levels?

  • Maintain a proper schedule for your day-to-day activities, such as waking up at 5:30 AM in the morning and going to bed by 10 PM.
  • Follow an active lifestyle – being active or burning some calories by walking or cycling will reduce the amount of cortisol.
  • Do some meditation – Meditation is a great solution for your stress or exhausted feelings. Following this everyday in the morning is going to help you a lot!
  • Weight lifting – In terms of exercise, weight lifting plays a major role in increasing the production of testosterone, which will result in a decreased release of cortisol. Additionally, lifting weights will improve the quality of sleep, which in turn helps to reduce stress.
  • Sleep – Sleep is important for the rest of your body. While you sleep, the body tries to repair muscle tissues and cells. Additionally, sleep helps the body maintain the overall hormone balance.
  • Healthy diet – Junk food or fast food not only gives you lifestyle diseases, but it can also cause high stress levels and a lack of sleep, among other things. Therefore, following a healthy, balanced diet is important for controlling stress as well.
